“Hope is a wisdom that knows how to use the past and the present in order to shape the future.” Aivanhov
Once we achieve balance, as we learned in the Part III – Balance, (See post Nov 7, 2022), we move to the last of the 4 Required Actions (Part I – Release Insecurity, Part II – Accept Responsibility and Part III – Find Balance), and produce the changes we desire with Part IV – Create the Future.
We Create the Future by combining our masculine and feminine. Obviously, on the physical plane, we do that by creating life through the fertilization of the female by the male. On the mental level, creation of thoughts occurs with the conscious mind stimulating the unconscious. The masculine within activates the inner feminine, whether we are male or female. On the spiritual level, the combining of the internal male and female creates a higher connection. Creating the future is the final step in making a difference in the world.
Using Our Will
The masculine “Will,” or our conscious mind, controls our thoughts. If we are lazy and listen to those around us, we are ruled by others. We see this in various forms of the media, which tell us what to think by supplying news that is geared to a particular view. This can forge an opinion, so individuals don’t have to think for themselves. How many of us are guilty of allowing that?
Some women allow strong men to dominate their lives. Some men acquiesce to dominant women. We have to choose to take control of our thoughts, which is another reminder to use our strengths to create our ideas, rather than allow others to command us. I believe this is so important because it forces us to think for ourselves and use both our internal masculine and feminine. We can’t relegate or delegate any part of ourselves to a member of the opposite sex, to a member of the same sex, or to society. Our strength is to use this instrument of Will and create our own world. Our decisions, however, need to feel right in the depths of our soul, not be influenced by what others think we should be doing. Only with total conviction will we be successful in our efforts.
Some use the mind to dominate others. This violates Part III – Balance by focusing on the masculine and ignoring the feminine. Anyone strongly influenced by another also violates Balance by focusing on the feminine and ignoring the masculine. Neither provides a point of power.
Now is the time to stop allowing others to do our thinking.
Being led by the thoughts of a few is not just a contemporary problem but a human condition that has existed for centuries. Ancient groups talked of domination of the “Will” at least as far back as the 15th century, probably even earlier. Perhaps that is part of our current evolution. Perhaps we now have the knowledge and ability to stop allowing others to dictate to us. Our masculine and feminine must work together. This has to happen, as the feminine is stimulated by the masculine. This is also necessary externally in society with men and women working together to create a better world. Yet that will not happen until we internalize this balance. We now have the knowledge, understanding, and ability to do that.
The Creative Process
How do we combine our inner masculine and feminine? The Creative Process provides some direction. We are creative even if we can’t draw, act or write a poem. Creativity involves a new way of looking at old information. Inspiration happens after we immerse ourselves in a particular study or problem. First, if we wish to Create Our Future, we need to be clear about what we are creating and why.
Three elements of the creative process:
- Immersion – Study everything about what future you desire and why. This is using the masculine, or conscious, mind to fertilize or stimulate the feminine, or unconscious, mind.
- Incubation – Pull back, concentrate on some other activity and do not focus on the problem. This allows the unconscious mind to relax and provides a chance for new ideas to germinate.
- Illumination – Wait for the moment of inspiration or clarity, the result of using both our masculine and feminine within. This process works for any type of creativity, not just to Create your Future. This step can’t be forced and may take days before any insight arrives. Being aware of dreams, things others say, words in a book, or some event may provide the clue to your solution. An answer will present itself if given a chance. Creativity can’t be forced; it just happens. (This Creative Process is adapted from Creativity: Flow and the Psychology of Discovery and Invention by M. Csikszentmihalyi)
This 4th Required Action: Create the Future, reflecting the 7th Cosmic Principle: Creation, provides the key to combining our masculinity and femininity as we create the world we desire by following this 5-part series, “Transcending the Divide: A Spiritual Approach to Our Social Unrest.”
While I normally use quotations from mystics, I recently watched a silly, non-spiritual, romantic comedy, The Lost City, and heard a line that I loved, partially because I am a writer but mostly because it perfectly summarizes Part IV – Create the Future and reminds us we are the creators of our lives:
“This is your story. How do you wish to write it?” You get to decide.
CONCLUSION TO THIS SERIES:
“Transcending the Divide: A Spiritual Approach to Our Social Unrest”
“The development of civilization has reached a critical point: it depends more on the human than on anything else in the outer world. That is why it is such a threat…A higher number of enlightened individuals will spontaneously, with their existence, lead to the collective effect of awakening to a humane civilization”
Ivan Antic in The Physics of Consciousness
This series of 5 posts focused on finding personal peace and changing ourselves, not others. The Four Required Actions help us do that:
I. Release Insecurity
II. Accept Responsibility
III. Find Balance
IV. Create the Future
These spiritual actions were inspired by both the mystics discussed in this Blog and the Seven Cosmic Principles discussed in my book Do It Yourself Guide to Spirituality: Seven Simple Steps (2011).
As mentioned in the Introduction post (Oct 17, 2022), each of the Seven Cosmic Principles can be traced back to the beginning of known time, to the earliest philosophies and beliefs, reflecting ideas from the Hermatists of Alexandria, Plato, the Gnostics, ancient Greeks, ancient Egyptians, and the Sumerians. Records place the origin of these Principles at least as far back as 3000 BCE.
The Seven Cosmic Principles
- Connection
We are all connected. The smallest atom and the largest galactic unit are governed by the same rules. We are part of everything and everything is part of us.
- Law and Order
There is order in the universe, a cause and effect, a reaction to every action. Nothing happens by chance.
- Change
The Universe vibrates, and we vibrate. Science teaches this rule that applies to everything in the universe. Transition is a normal part of life.
- Pattern
Seasons change; tides rise and fall; day turns to night; we sleep, we wake. Our lives and the world have a recurring pattern with limits.
- Cycles
The pattern governing our lives moves in a circle that spirals upward. We progress.
- Balance
Everything has its opposite. There is polarity in the world and in the universe. Our power is in the center, not the extremes.
- Creation
Life is creation. Sex attraction unites the masculine and feminine characteristics within us.
Part I – Release Insecurity (Oct 24, 2022 post): This first of the 4 Required Actions is related to the 1st Cosmic Principle: Connection in which we learn that we are a part of everything and everything is a part of us. Once we accept ourselves as connected to a higher or divine energy, we can believe in our own worth and can Release any Insecurity.
Part II – Accept Responsibility (Oct 31, 2022 post): This second of the 4 Required Actions is related to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Cosmic Principles in which we learn that everything happens for a reason, that change occurs but within limits as we progress spiritually, and that we are responsible for our actions.
Part III – Find Balance (Nov 7, 2022 post): This third of the 4 Required Actions is related to the 6th Cosmic Principle: Balance in which we learn to find our center, our power within.
Part IV – Create the Future (See post above): This last of the 4 Required Actions reminds us of the 7th Cosmic Principle: Creation as we combine our internal masculine and feminine to design a world we choose.
“We are the only ones who can change our realities.” Antic
Our challenge is to become aware of our inner senses, our soul, and our consciousness, as we follow the 4 Required Actions, which relate to the 7 Cosmic Principles.
“Developing inner harmony is key to making a more peace-filled world.” Bennett
We often justify our multitasking as a good thing, and we are proud that we can balance family, work, and recreational activities with other demands. Are we happy, though, in the sense of being at peace within? Or are we so busy that we forget our constant activity may be an effort to be liked and approved of by others and/or ourselves. What if we stopped for a while and concentrated on just being peaceful?
“When we are able to take one step peacefully and happily, we are working for the cause of peace and happiness for the whole of humankind.” Thich Nhat Hanh
REMEMBER:
We are connected to everyone and everything
Everything happens for a reason
Change occurs within limits as we progress spiritually
Our strength is in our center, and our inner balance impacts the world
We can create a future to transcend societal differences and help bring peace to the world
